Cooper: Almost $3 Million in Infrastructure Grants Awarded to 55th District
January 20, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jill Cooper (R-Westmoreland) today announced several municipalities in the 55th Legislative District will receive a cumulative nearly $3 million in grants approved through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).
“The costs of improving and expanding our infrastructure are always very high, and local governments work hard to invest in these projects as well as meet day-to-day expenditures,” Cooper said. “These are important investments, and I was thrilled to work with Sens. Kim Ward (R-Westmoreland) and Joe Pittman (R-Armstrong/Indiana/Jefferson/Westmoreland) in seeing these projects get prioritized.”
The CFA is an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development. It distributes funding through several programs dedicated to economic growth. The grants awarded are through the Multimodal Transportation and the Small Water and Sewer grant programs.
In all, $2,953,569 was awarded to the 55th Legislative District, which includes:
• Delmont Borough, $1.04 million for safety and stormwater improvements on Freeport Street and a sanitary line replacement project on Tollgate Lane.
• Franklin Township Municipal Sanitary Authority, $200,000 to replace the Meadowbrook Pump Station.
• Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County, $500,000 to extend a water main line on Route 380.
• Murrysville, $626,600 to replace a traffic signal optimization system along Route 22.
• Oklahoma Borough, $238,969 to repave Middle Street.
• Salem Township, $340,000 to extend the Apple and Tucker lanes water lines.
